The Pointe de Fresse rises to 2328 meters above sea level, featuring steep slopes and rocky outcrops covered with alpine vegetation throughout the year.
The summit has served as a natural landmark for local shepherds since the Middle Ages, guiding them through the mountain passes of the Vanoise region.
The mountain forms part of the Vanoise National Park, established in 1963, which protects numerous alpine species and traditional pastoral practices.
Hikers can access the summit via an 11-kilometer trail from Tignes Val Claret, with a total elevation gain of 686 meters.
The orientation table at the summit allows visitors to identify surrounding peaks while observing marmots in their natural mountain habitat.
