Dimapur district

Dimapur is an administrative district in northeastern Nagaland consisting of plains and farmland spread across its territory. A network of roads and rail routes passes through, creating the main transportation hub for the state.

This region once served as the seat of the Kachari Kingdom during the medieval period, which left traces in the landscape. Later developments transformed it into the region's main commercial center.

Various Naga communities call this region home, each with distinct customs that remain visible in everyday market life and seasonal celebrations. Local gathering spaces show how these groups share the same land while keeping their individual traditions alive.

The terrain sits at roughly 260 meters in elevation with easy access by rail or road. The state's only railway station operates here, making it straightforward to reach from other Indian cities.
