Aamby Valley City, Planned township in Pune district, India
Aamby Valley City is a planned township in the Pune district, built along a valley floor in the Western Ghats. The development holds residential towers, an airstrip, hotels, and leisure facilities arranged around artificial lakes.
The township began construction in 2006 as a private project aiming to create a self-contained residential zone in the hills near Lonavala. Building work on infrastructure and housing blocks continued over several years.
The township includes a replica of Varanasi ghat near an artificial lagoon where residents gather for traditional performances and ceremonies.
Access runs through a road from Lonavala that winds uphill through curves. The site covers a wide area, so distances between sections are considerable and you need your own vehicle or shuttles.
A small airstrip for private planes sits on a flat section between the hills and occasionally serves as an event venue. On weekends the reservoir shores are often empty because occupancy remains thin.
