NTPC Ramagundam, Coal-fired power station in Ramagundam mandal, India.
NTPC Ramagundam is a coal-fired power station with seven active generator units distributed across three construction phases. The facility produces around 2,600 megawatts of electricity in total.
The first phase began in the late 1970s with three 200-megawatt generator units supplied by Ansaldo Energia. Operations started in 1983.
A residential community has grown around the power station, housing workers and their families alongside everyday facilities. Schools, shops, and recreation areas form the core of daily life here.
The facility draws cooling water from the Sriram Sagar reservoir and receives coal through a private railway link from Singareni Coal. Access is restricted and visits typically require advance permission.
The power station supplies electricity to six different Indian states including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. This wide distribution makes it a key supplier for multiple regions.
