Sanghol Museum

The Sanghol Museum is an archaeological museum displaying finds from excavations conducted at the site. The collection includes stone sculptures, pottery, coins, and tools from various periods between the Harappan era and later centuries.

Excavations at this location revealed layers of settlement spanning thousands of years of human presence. The site became a museum to preserve these discoveries and share them with visitors.

The collection displays works from the Kushana period, showing how artisans portrayed their world at that time. Objects on view reveal beliefs and craftsmanship of people who lived in this region centuries ago.

The location is about 40 kilometers from Chandigarh and is easily accessible by car or taxi. Plan to spend roughly two hours exploring the exhibits at a comfortable pace.

The museum preserves rare objects from Buddhist monasteries, including sculptures from the Mathura school dating to the first and second centuries. These pieces come from a period when Buddhism was spreading through the region and artists were developing new artistic forms.
