Gandhi Bhawan

Gandhi Bhawan is an auditorium and exhibition space at Panjab University, built with angular walls and geometric patterns in a modernist style. The interior contains books, photographs, and objects related to Gandhi's life and work.

The structure was built in the 1960s by architects Pierre Jeanneret and B.P. Mathur as part of Chandigarh's development as a planned city. It was created to honor Gandhi's legacy while the city was establishing its institutions.

The entrance displays a Sanskrit inscription meaning 'Truth is God' alongside a mural that blends modernist design with traditional Indian artistic elements. This combination creates an unexpected visual harmony between old and new.
