Garden of Silence

The Garden of Silence is a meditative garden near Chandigarh featuring concentric circular steps that surround a central Buddha statue and create spaces for contemplation. The layout uses this geometric arrangement to form different areas for inner reflection.

The project originated from funding by India's Ministry of Tourism and was later developed and maintained by Chandigarh's administration. It was created to provide a space for quietness within the modern city.

The garden blends Buddhist design principles with contemporary Indian landscape architecture, demonstrating how spiritual practice integrates into city life. You will find meditative spaces throughout that invite sitting and inner reflection.

The garden is open daily from 6 AM to 10 PM and has no entrance fee. The best times to visit are at sunrise or sunset when the light is best and crowds are smaller.

The site sits on the edge of Sukhna Lake with views toward the Shivalik Range, yet maintains complete silence throughout its grounds. This location creates an unusual balance where nature and human design meet without distraction.
