Secunderabad Junction railway station, Railway station in Secunderabad, India.
Secunderabad Junction is a railway station in Secunderabad, India, spanning ten platforms and eleven tracks. The complex serves as headquarters for South Central Railway and connects the region to many destinations across the country.
The Nizām of Hyderabad opened the station in 1874 under British rule as part of his guaranteed state railway network. It remained the main hub of this railway administration until 1916 and then passed into larger organizations.
The station carries features from the Nizam era with its fort-like towers and arches. These elements recall the feudal past of Hyderabad and shape the appearance of the complex to this day.
Digital display boards help with orientation among the many platforms and tracks. Waiting areas, restaurants, and security systems are distributed throughout the complex and ease longer stays.
The complex sits at 539 meters (1768 feet) above sea level and forms a central hub within the Multi-Modal Transport System since 2003. This interchange point connects different modes of transport and eases transitions between train, bus, and metro.
