Ibrahimpatnam mandal, Administrative subdivision in Krishna district, India
Ibrahimpatnam mandal is an administrative subdivision in the NTR district of Andhra Pradesh, situated along the banks of the Krishna River. It covers a mix of small towns and villages, and shares borders with the mandals of Kanchikacherla and Veerullapadu.
Until 2022, this subdivision was part of Krishna district, one of the older administrative units of Andhra Pradesh. That year, it was reassigned to the newly created NTR district as part of a broader reorganization of the state's administrative map.
The area belongs to the Telugu-speaking heartland of Andhra Pradesh, and this shapes everyday life in its villages and small towns. Local markets, festivals, and temples follow the traditions of this part of India and are easy to notice during a visit.
National Highway 65 passes through the area, and Kondapalli Railway Station on the Kazipet-Vijayawada line offers a rail connection for travelers. Visiting outside the hottest summer months makes moving around the area more comfortable.
Rayanapadu, a small locality within the mandal, is home to a railway wagon workshop that maintains and repairs freight cars, which is unusual for a mostly rural area. Nearby, the Dr. Narla Tata Rao Thermal Power Station supplies a large share of the electricity used across the region.
