Piedmont, Region of Italy at the foot of the Alps

Located in northwestern Italy, Piedmont occupies 25,402 square kilometers of land bordered by France, Switzerland, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, and Liguria.

The House of Savoy established control over Piedmont after 1400, leading to Turin becoming the capital of unified Italy from 1861 to 1865.

The Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato wine regions represent crucial centers for Italian viticulture, producing notable wines like Barolo and Barbaresco.

Turin-Caselle International Airport connects the region with major European destinations, while an extensive motorway network links Piedmont to France and Switzerland.

The region contains the highest peak of Monviso at 3,841 meters and incorporates parts of Lake Maggiore, creating diverse geographical landscapes.
