Municipio I

Municipio I encompasses the central area of Rome, including all 22 historic rioni districts and extends to regions along the Tiber River.

The administrative division was established in 2001 and underwent significant restructuring in 2013 through the incorporation of territories from former Municipio XVII.

The district contains more than 100 museums, including the Capitoline Museums and Palazzo delle Esposizioni, representing centuries of Roman artistic achievements.

The area maintains direct connections to both Fiumicino and Ciampino airports through Roma Termini station and multiple metro lines across its territory.

The territory incorporates four of Rome's ancient hills - Palatine, Aventine, Quirinal, and Esquiline - within its administrative boundaries.
