Tsukinoki Station, railway station in Shibata, Shibata district, Miyagi prefecture, Japan
Tsukinoki Station is a railway station in Shibata built above ground with two platforms and tracks running between them, connected by a footbridge to the main station building. The station features a ticket office and waiting areas where passengers gather before boarding trains on the Tōhoku Main Line and the Abukuma Express Line.
The station opened in January 1891 and has served the region for over 130 years as a vital transport link. It became part of the JR East network in 1987 when the Japanese National Railways was reorganized, and received a new station building in 1998.
The station offers step-free paths and accessibility for wheelchair users and strollers, with restrooms inside and outside the gate areas plus wheelchair facilities. Safety features like platform screen doors prevent accidents, and staff can be contacted in advance for information and assistance.
The station serves as the terminal end for the Abukuma Express Line where trains arrive and do not continue beyond, making it a key transfer point for passengers. Two different railway lines meet here, allowing travelers to switch routes easily.
