Fuji Rock Festival, Rock festival in Japan
Fuji Rock Festival is a large outdoor music event held at Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture. The event spans several days with multiple stages featuring different music genres across various locations on the grounds.
The festival was founded in 1997 and originally took place near Mount Fuji before relocating to the Yuzawa area. It has since grown into one of the largest annual music events in Asia.
The festival draws visitors from around the world and creates a space where people from different backgrounds and musical tastes meet. Artists span both Japanese and international acts, shaping the program with a mix of rock, pop, electronic, and other genres.
The grounds are hilly and visitors should wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water, especially in warm weather. There are covered areas, but it is wise to bring rain protection since mountain weather can change quickly.
Despite its name, the festival no longer takes place near Mount Fuji but uses Naeba ski slopes each year. The location was deliberately chosen to create a different relationship with nature while retaining the original name.
