North Chungcheong

North Chungcheong spans 7,433 square kilometers of mountainous terrain, featuring the Noryeong Mountains in the north and Sobaek Mountains in the east.

The province emerged in 1896 when the historical Chungcheong region split into northern and southern administrative territories during the late Joseon period.

The province maintains numerous Buddhist temples, including the ancient Beopjusa Temple within Songnisan National Park and the Guinsa Temple complex.

The region connects to major cities through an extensive network of railways and highways, with Cheongju serving as the provincial capital.

North Chungcheong stands as the only landlocked province in South Korea, with significant deposits of gold, iron, coal, and marble in its northern territories.
