Cheonjiyeon Waterfall

Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, Waterfall in Seogwi-dong, South Korea

Cheonjiyeon Waterfall is a cascade that drops from a cave opening in the cliff face and flows into a deep basin below. Water moves continuously across volcanic rock formations, creating layers of falling water.

The site became officially protected in 1993 when surrounding forests received designation as Natural Monument No. 378. This protection recognizes the geological and ecological value of the location.

Local legend speaks of heavenly maidens who once bathed in the pool beneath the falls during moonlit nights. This tale remains part of how people connect with the place when they visit.

Stone pathways made from volcanic rock guide you through the site and provide multiple viewing spots. The paths are easy to walk and allow you to see the falls from different angles.

Water flows directly from a cave opening at the cliff top, emerging cold and creating a distinct falling pattern. This source from within the rock gives the cascade its characteristic appearance as water breaks into separate streams.
