Myodo Bridge, Bridge between Yeosu and Myodo Island, South Korea
Myodo Bridge is a roughly 7.2-kilometer structure of steel and concrete that spans the coastal waters between Yeosu and Myodo Island. The road allows vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians to cross in both directions without relying on ferries.
This structure opened in September 2012 as a replacement for the ferry service that had been the only link to the island for decades. The shift from water to road transport marked a turning point in how the region connected its communities.
The bridge carries daily traffic from Yeosu to the island, connecting residential areas, fishing operations, and tourist destinations. It has become a routine part of how residents and visitors experience the coastal region together.
The bridge is open to cars, bicycles, and walkers, with most visitors driving across. Cloudy or rainy weather can reduce the views, but crossing is possible year-round regardless of conditions.
The bridge includes stopping points where travelers can pause to watch the coastal landscape and sea. These spots offer an unexpected chance to take in the Jeollanam-do province scenery during the crossing.
