Château Ksara, Wine estate in Zahle District, Lebanon
Château Ksara is a vineyard estate in the Beqaa Valley with vineyards spread across several hundred hectares at high altitude. The property includes an extensive network of underground caves used for storing wines and Arak.
The estate was founded by Jesuit priests in 1857 and pioneered red wine production in Lebanon. The founders discovered Roman-era caves during this time, which now serve as natural storage for wines.
The estate produces both traditional Arak and wines made from international grape varieties, blending local spirits with global winemaking practices. This mix reflects how the vineyard honors regional customs while embracing wider influences.
Visitors can join free daily tours of the extensive underground cave system and participate in wine tastings throughout the year. The cooler months offer the most comfortable experience for exploring the caves and grounds.
Inside the caves, special VIP sections hold rare vintage collections representing over a century of winemaking heritage. These hidden collections showcase bottles preserved across multiple generations.
