Temple of Jupiter, Roman temple in Baalbek, Lebanon.
The Temple of Jupiter features massive stone columns measuring 23 meters in height and 2.2 meters in diameter within a grand religious complex.
Construction of this religious structure began during Emperor Augustus's reign in the first century AD and reached completion under Emperor Hadrian's rule.
The temple reflects the merging of Roman religious practices with local Phoenician traditions in the ancient city of Heliopolis, now known as Baalbek.
The archaeological site requires an entrance fee of 12,000 Lebanese pounds and contains two museums displaying artifacts from different historical periods.
The temple's foundation includes the Trilithon, three enormous stone blocks weighing 800 tons each and measuring up to 70 feet in length.
