Taraba State, State capital with administrative buildings in Jalingo, Nigeria.

The Benue River and its tributaries flow through northern Taraba State, creating fertile valleys amid wooded savanna regions and southern mountains.

Taraba State emerged from the division of Gongola State in 1991, incorporating three former divisions: Wukari, Mambilla, and Muri territories.

The region contains 80 distinct ethnic groups, including the Jukun, Mambilla, and Fulani peoples, each maintaining their languages and traditional ceremonies.

The state maintains transportation links through roads connecting to Yola, Bauchi, and Makurdi, while the Benue River provides water transport options.

Gashaka Gumti National Park, the largest in Nigeria, spans across Taraba State with diverse ecosystems and numerous wildlife species.
