Ad Dhahirah Governorate

Ad Dhahirah Governorate extends across 37,000 square kilometers of diverse terrain, encompassing mountains, valleys, and desert landscapes in the Sultanate of Oman.

The region gained its current administrative status in 2011, evolving from earlier territorial divisions that included additional provinces such as Al Buraymi and Mahdha.

Each district within Ad Dhahirah maintains traditional markets where residents exchange local products, handicrafts, and agricultural goods according to seasonal patterns.

The governorate contains three main provinces - Ibri, Yanqul, and Dhank - with Ibri serving as the administrative center and primary transportation hub.

The Yibal oil field, discovered in 1968 within Ad Dhahirah's boundaries, ranks as the largest petroleum reserve in Oman and drives regional economic development.
