Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque

Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is a large house of worship with four minarets and a central dome designed to hold several thousand worshippers at once. The interior features expansive halls with high ceilings and ornate decorative details spread across multiple levels.

The mosque was built in the 2010s and completed in 2015 under the reign of a sultan who shaped the nation for decades. It arose during a period of growing economic prosperity and was constructed as a major public landmark.

The prayer hall features separate sections for men and women, each with its own entrance, creating distinct spaces within the same building. This arrangement allows groups to worship simultaneously while maintaining their own areas.

The site is located at the intersection of two main highways and is easily accessible by car, with plentiful parking available. Visitors should be prepared for varying opening times and check ahead about when tours or visits are possible.

A large chandelier hangs from the ceiling of the main prayer hall, casting warm light across the pale carpets below. This fixture is one of the first things many visitors notice when entering the space.
