Pishin District, Administrative district in Balochistan, Pakistan
Pishin is an administrative district in northwestern Balochistan situated at about 1,680 meters (5,510 feet) elevation. The area has fertile agricultural lands and is connected to Quetta and other towns through a road network.
The district came under British control following the Second Anglo-Afghan War. During World War II, two military airbases were built in the area.
The local communities speak Pashto and follow traditions rooted in Pashtun tribal customs that shape daily life. These groups maintain their own ways of living that define how the region functions today.
The region is accessible via roads connecting it to Quetta and surrounding towns. Visitors should prepare for higher elevation and varying weather conditions.
The area is known for fruit cultivation, particularly apples, almonds, pomegranates, and grapes. These crops thrive at the higher elevation and make the district a major fruit producer in the region.
