Kotli District, Administrative district in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan
Kotli District is an administrative region in Azad Kashmir with hilly terrain and several administrative divisions. The area is governed by five tehsils that together organize public services across the region.
The area was originally part of Mirpur District before gaining its own status in 1975 following administrative reorganization in administered Kashmir. This change marked an important step in the region's administrative structure.
The district population communicates in two main languages, with Pahari spoken by two-thirds of residents and Gujari used by the remaining third.
The region is divided into five administrative units serving as centers for government services and local administration. Visitors should be aware this is a hilly area with varying terrain.
The region has a notable education tradition with one of the higher literacy rates in the country. This achievement is particularly noteworthy given the geographic challenges and limited infrastructure of the area.
