Sırımtaş Dam, Gravity dam and hydroelectric station in Adıyaman Province, Turkey
Sırımtaş Dam is a gravity dam made with roller-compacted concrete that stands 92 meters high above the Birimşe River. The attached facility produces electricity at a capacity of 28 megawatts for the surrounding region.
Construction started in 2009 as part of the Southeastern Anatolia Project and was completed in May 2013. The project aimed to improve power generation in the region and support local development.
The Sırımtaş Dam represents Turkey's commitment to renewable energy infrastructure, contributing to the national power supply while supporting local development initiatives.
The dam is located in Adıyaman Province and is accessible by roads that connect to rural areas. Visitors should note the hot summer months, as the region has a dry and warm climate.
The dam created a new reservoir ecosystem through its operation and is one of many hydroelectric facilities within a large regional infrastructure program. The facility contributes to the baseline power supply for surrounding cities and rural areas.
