Yamanlardağı Nature Park, Nature park in Karşıyaka district, Menemen, Turkey
Yamanlardağı Nature Park is a nature park in the Karşıyaka district of Menemen, located northeast of İzmir. It covers wooded slopes, open grassy areas, and a gentle hill called Göktepe that offers views over the surrounding land.
The area was traditionally used by local people to collect herbs and firewood from the hillsides. Over time it was set aside as a protected space to preserve the vegetation that had grown there for generations.
The park is also informally known as Göktepe, after the nearby hill of the same name. On weekends, families gather here to picnic and children play in the open spaces while adults rest on benches nearby.
The park is not easily reached by public transport, so having a car makes the visit much simpler. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain includes slopes and unpaved paths.
The park currently exists as a proposal for official nature park designation, meaning it has not yet received full legal protection. Visitors are therefore advised to check the current state of facilities and access before planning a trip.
