Wanhua District, Administrative district in Taipei, Taiwan

Wanhua is an administrative district in Taipei, Taiwan, stretching along the Tamsui River in the western part of the city. The area includes residential neighborhoods, temples, markets, and commercial streets that spread from the waterfront to the busy inland roads.

The area began as a fishing village called Bangka, founded by the Ketagalan tribe, and grew into a trade center during the Qing dynasty. The river port made the settlement a hub for goods from inland and the coast.

Longshan Temple draws residents and visitors who light incense, bring offerings, and pray before the statues. The religious rituals follow a mix of Buddhist, Taoist, and folk traditions that play a role in the everyday lives of many people here.

Metro stations at Longshan Temple and Ximen, plus Wanhua railway station, provide connections to the city center and other neighborhoods. Most points of interest lie within walking distance near these stops.

Three large wholesale markets supply the city: the First Fruit and Vegetable Market, the First Poultry Market, and the Fishery Wholesale Market. The markets open early in the morning when traders from across the region arrive to buy fresh produce.
