Dayuling, Mountain pass in Fushi Village, Taiwan.
Dayuling is a mountain pass in Taiwan's Central Mountain Range where Provincial Highway 8 and Highway 14A meet at approximately 2,565 meters elevation. The pass serves as a connection between the eastern and western regions of the island.
During Japanese administration in the early 1900s, the first road infrastructure was built to improve access through this mountain region. This marked the beginning of modern transportation development across the pass.
This location has long served as a passage point for indigenous communities who used the area for trade and travel. Today, local shops and guesthouses shape the daily rhythm of the pass.
Two restaurants serve local dishes, accommodations are available, and supply stores cater to travelers at this location. Weather can change quickly at this elevation, so visitors should bring appropriate clothing for varying conditions.
The Dayuling geological formation contains nummulite fossils, marking the first discovery of these marine organisms in Taiwan's geological record. These fossils reveal that the region was once covered by ancient seas.
