Republic of China Military Academy, Military academy in Fongshan District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
The Republic of China Military Academy is a military academy in Fongshan, a district of Kaohsiung in Taiwan. The grounds contain multiple buildings for instruction and physical training, dormitories for cadets, as well as administrative offices and sports facilities spread across an expansive site.
The academy began in 1924 under the name Whampoa in Guangzhou and trained its first officer classes there. After the end of the Chinese Civil War, the institution moved to Kaohsiung and resumed operations at its current site.
The campus relies on military discipline and a hierarchical system that still shapes the daily routine of cadets. Training combines classroom instruction in modern facilities with physical drills on expansive grounds, marked by uniforms and strict schedules.
Visitors need advance permission to enter the grounds, as access is controlled for security reasons. The nearest metro station is Dadong, from which the site can be reached on foot or by bus.
The campus preserves elements of its original architecture from the founding era, including several buildings in the Republic of China style. These historic structures stand alongside newer facilities and convey the transition between different construction phases of the institution.
