Paz Castillo, Administrative division in Miranda State, Venezuela
Paz Castillo is a municipality in the northern part of Miranda State, Venezuela, with Santa Lucía as its main administrative center. The territory covers hilly terrain and groups together several towns and rural settlements spread across the area.
The municipality was established during Venezuela's administrative reforms of the 19th century and named after General Rafael Paz Castillo. It has since remained a separate administrative unit within Miranda State.
The municipality takes its name from General Rafael Paz Castillo, a Venezuelan military figure from the 19th century. His name remains present in everyday life through signs, place names, and local awareness across the territory.
The area sits on elevated terrain, so roads can be winding and uneven depending on where you are headed. Santa Lucía is a good starting point for getting oriented across the municipality and reaching other settlements from there.
The territory is shaped by two notable peaks, Cerro Tuntán and Cerro Guaremal, which visibly structure the landscape from many angles. Several waterways run through the area and feed the surrounding rural communities.
