Residencia Presidencial La Casona, Presidential residence in Caracas, Venezuela.
Residencia Presidencial La Casona is a large estate covering five hectares with extensive hallways, internal courtyards, and planted garden areas. The grounds feature fountains with water lilies and tropical fruit trees that shape the outdoor landscape.
The property originated as a sugarcane plantation called La Pastora during colonial times before the Venezuelan government purchased it from the Brandt family in 1964. This purchase marked a turning point in converting the land for official state use.
The name comes from its role as a grand manor house, with rooms that reflect Venezuelan history through their architecture and furnishings. Visitors can see today how spaces were designed to express authority and taste across different periods.
The site sits near Francisco de Miranda Park, Bolivar Park, and La Carlota Air Base in Leoncio Martinez Parish in Miranda State. Visitors should expect uneven pathways and wear comfortable shoes to explore the sprawling gardens and courtyards.
In December 2019, the residence became the Aquiles Nazoa Cultural Center and opened its gardens and rooms to public visits. This transformation allowed citizens to enter a place that had long been closed to the public.
