Trường Sa, Rural district in Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam.
Trường Sa is a district in Khánh Hòa province comprising coral islands, cays, and reefs spread across the Spratly Islands region. The area stretches about 248 nautical miles southeast of Cam Ranh port and contains multiple island groups with varying geographic features.
The district was established on December 9, 1982, initially under Phu Khanh Province's administration. In 1989, it was transferred to Khánh Hòa province where it has remained since.
The district maintains three administrative units where naval personnel and local residents collaborate in maintaining the islands' infrastructure and maritime activities.
The area is accessible through Spratly Airport with a 1,200-meter runway that handles larger transport aircraft. Multiple piers serve the inhabited islands, with ships providing the main connection to the mainland.
The area has wireless communication coverage within a radius of about 20 kilometers around the islands. This connection allows the small population of residents and military personnel to remain in contact with the outside world.
