Sankhuwasabha, Administrative district in eastern Nepal
Sankhuwasabha District extends over 3,480 square kilometers between the elevations of 457 meters and 8,463 meters in Koshi Province.
The district was established in 1962 and has maintained its administrative center in Khandbari, serving as a crucial governmental hub in eastern Nepal.
The population distribution reveals a mix of ethnic groups, with Chhetri comprising 18.3%, Tamang 11%, Rai 8.1%, Kulung 6.2%, and Sherpa 5.8% of residents.
The Arun River flows southward through the district, creating deep valleys and providing essential water resources to local communities.
The district shares its northern border with Tibet's Tingri County while encompassing terrain from tropical zones below 300 meters to nival zones above 5,000 meters.
