Cho Polu, Mountain summit in Mahalangur Himal, Nepal
Cho Polu rises to an elevation of 6,735 meters, featuring steep snow and ice faces surrounded by other prominent peaks in the Himalayan range.
Spanish climber Nil Bohigas accomplished the first verified ascent of Cho Polu in November 1984, successfully climbing the challenging north face of the mountain.
The mountain stands within the Khumbu region, where Sherpa communities maintain strong connections to the surrounding peaks through their traditions and mountaineering practices.
Expeditions to Cho Polu require technical climbing equipment, experienced guides, and careful planning due to its remote location and high-altitude conditions.
The mountain presents different climbing challenges on each face, with the north face and west face-southwest ridge representing the only documented successful routes.
