Teruel Province, Province in Aragon, Spain
The 10th largest province in Spain stretches across 14,809 square kilometers of mountainous terrain within the Sistema Ibérico range at 915 meters elevation.
King Alfonso II established Teruel as a strategic settlement in 1171, marking a significant transformation in the political organization of southern Aragon.
The province maintains strong connections to traditional practices, including the production of jamón serrano and the preservation of Mudéjar architectural elements.
The region features numerous small municipalities, with more than half consisting of villages housing fewer than 200 permanent residents throughout the year.
Archaeological sites across the province contain some of the earliest dinosaur remains discovered on the Iberian Peninsula, dating back millions of years.
