PortAventura World, Entertainment resort in Salou and Vila-seca, Spain.
PortAventura World is a multi-park complex along the Catalan coast between Salou and Vila-seca. The site includes a large theme park with rides and shows, a water park with slides and pools, and a smaller park devoted entirely to Ferrari.
The complex opened its gates in the mid-1990s as a theme park and grew over the following decades with new areas and attractions. The addition of Ferrari Land came two decades later, bringing a set of new rides with fast acceleration and themed design.
Each zone is designed to evoke a world region, and in each area you hear music, see costumes, and walk past buildings in a different style. Visitors encounter performers in costume and can stroll through markets and plazas that recall places around the Mediterranean and beyond.
The complex sits along the AP-7 motorway and can be reached through several exits, with parking available directly at the entrance areas. A train station links the site to Barcelona and other towns in the region, making it easy to arrive without a car.
Red Force accelerates to 180 kilometers per hour (112 miles per hour) in under five seconds and is considered one of the fastest accelerators in Europe. The ride climbs at a steep angle up to a height of 112 meters (367 feet) before rushing back down to earth.
