The attraction opened in Disneyland Paris on July 4, 1994, drawing inspiration from Disney's 1954 film adaptation of Jules Verne's '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea'.

The submarine's Victorian-era design elements and maritime equipment represent the scientific advancement ambitions of nineteenth-century European exploration and literature.

Located near Space Mountain in Discoveryland, this walk-through experience permits guests of any height to explore the submarine's interior at their own pace.

The 2023 renovation replaced the mechanical giant squid with digital screens displaying marine life, including dolphins, sharks, whales, and sea turtles.
