Hanumangarh

Hanumangarh sits along the Ghaggar River about 400 kilometers south of Delhi in Rajasthan state. Bhatner Fort stands as the main historical landmark at its center, shaping the city's character.

The city began in 255 AD when King Bhupat established it as Bhatner. The name changed later when Maharaja Surat Singh Rathore took control of the fortress and reshaped the settlement.

The city is home to people from different backgrounds who speak Rajasthani, Punjabi, and Bagri in daily life. Temples and burial sites throughout the region show layers of settlement reaching back to ancient times.

The city sits on a railway line connecting Jodhpur and Bathinda, linking it to major cities by train. The closest airport is in Chandigarh about 312 kilometers away for travelers arriving by air.

Excavations near the city uncovered human skeletons, ancient writing, coins, and objects from the late Kushan Empire period. These findings reveal that the area was inhabited and mattered long before the modern settlement took shape.
