Appu Ghar, Amusement park in Delhi, India
Appu Ghar is an amusement park in Delhi, India, offering rides, game zones, and themed areas for visitors of all ages. The facility includes both indoor and outdoor attractions distributed across several sectors, combining different entertainment styles under one destination.
The park opened in November 1984 and marked the first major amusement destination of its kind in India at that time. After more than two decades of operation, the facility left its original site and later reopened at a new location.
The name means Appu's Garden in Hindi, referencing the Asian Games mascot that became part of childhood memories for many Indians. Families often bring three generations together here, making it a common setting for milestone celebrations and weekend outings.
The site sits close to well-connected transport points and tends to draw larger crowds on weekends. Gates remain open longer during warm months, and several food and drink options are available on the grounds.
The elephant mascot Appu from the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi inspired both the name and the visual theme of the park. The character was so popular at the time that it remained part of childhood memories for entire generations over decades.
