Pyramid of Merenre

The limestone structure rises to 47 meters with a base of 78.75 meters and features smooth sides at an angle of 53 degrees.

Built during the Sixth Dynasty around 2270 BC for Pharaoh Merenre Nemtyemsaf I, the pyramid stands 450 meters southwest of Pepi I's monument.

The burial chamber contains a sarcophagus with polychrome reliefs displaying royal palace motifs and a ceiling decorated with astronomical patterns and stars.

Located at coordinates 29.850556 latitude and 31.215 longitude, the pyramid forms part of the extensive Saqqara archaeological site open to visitors.

The structure might contain the oldest known royal mummy, discovered by Gaston Maspero in the 1880s during his exploration of the pyramid.
