Imhotep Museum, Archaeological museum in Saqqara, Egypt.

The Imhotep Museum is an archaeological building in Saqqara that displays ancient objects from the surrounding area. The exhibition features various artifacts including tools, architectural pieces, and burial objects arranged across six halls connected by a central walkway.

The museum opened in 2006 and honors Imhotep, the architect who built the first stone pyramid, the Step Pyramid of Djoser. It documents the architectural progress of ancient Egypt through objects collected from that era.

The halls display pottery vessels, statues, and stone slabs carved with inscriptions from different periods of ancient Egypt. Walking through them, you see how craftspeople and artists refined their techniques across thousands of years.

The building has climate-controlled areas to protect the displayed objects from damage, so you can view the collection in a comfortable environment. Plan enough time to explore all six halls and their contents at a relaxed pace.

One gallery is dedicated to Jean-Philippe Lauer, who spent over 70 years studying and restoring the Djoser complex. His personal items and photographs show how long and intensive this archaeological work was.
