Temple of Ptah, Religious temple in Memphis, Egypt.
The Temple of Ptah features stone foundations, granite blocks, and limestone structures with hieroglyphic inscriptions depicting ancient Egyptian deities and pharaohs.
During the Old Kingdom period, this temple served as a primary religious center where Egyptians performed rituals and ceremonies dedicated to Ptah.
The temple walls contain carved scenes showing Ramesses II performing the Heb Sed ritual, illustrating religious practices of ancient Egyptian royalty.
Visitors access the archaeological site through Mit Rahina village, where excavated blocks and artifacts are displayed in an open-air museum.
The temple's original name, Hut-ka-Ptah, meaning House of Ptah's Spirit, later evolved into the word Egypt through Greek linguistic transformation.
