Pyramid of Khendjer, Royal pyramid in Saqqara, Egypt

The Pyramid of Khendjer stands between the pyramids of Pepi II and Senusret III, featuring limestone casing stones and a monolithic quartzite burial chamber.

Constructed during the 13th Dynasty around 1760 BCE, the structure was excavated by archaeologist Gustave Jequier who discovered its remains in 1929.

The pyramid complex contained a mortuary temple on the east side, crossing both inner limestone and outer mudbrick walls for ceremonial purposes.

The archaeological site rises only one meter above the desert sand, located in South Saqqara near other ancient Egyptian monuments and burial structures.

The pyramid's burial chamber included two enormous quartzite slabs covering a 150-ton monolithic chamber, with additional chambers prepared for queens.
