KV29, Ancient tomb in Valley of the Kings, Egypt.

KV29 is an unexcavated tomb in the Valley of the Kings, located on the west bank of the Nile near Luxor. It lies beneath the desert surface among dozens of other royal burial sites cut into the limestone hillsides.

The tomb dates to the New Kingdom, the period when Egyptian pharaohs established the Valley of the Kings as their main burial ground. It has never been opened since ancient times, so its occupant and contents remain unknown.

The Valley of the Kings served as the burial ground for Egypt's rulers during the New Kingdom, and each numbered tomb in the valley reflects the scale of that royal tradition. KV29 sits among these sites as a reminder of how many graves remain untouched and unread.

KV29 is not open to visitors since it has not been excavated, but the surrounding Valley of the Kings has many accessible tombs nearby. Arriving early in the morning is a good idea, as the heat builds quickly on the open desert hillside.

The numbering system used for tombs in the Valley, including KV29, was introduced by early Western explorers in the 19th century and reflects the order in which graves were discovered or recorded. The number itself says nothing about when the tomb was built or who is buried inside.
