Rang Mahal, Imperial palace in Red Fort, Delhi, India
The Rang Mahal features fifteen architectural bays separated by ornamental piers and contains a central marble pool with water channels flowing through the structure.
Constructed in 1648 under Shah Jahan's reign, the palace served as living quarters for the royal women until British forces occupied it following the 1857 rebellion.
The palace walls display a combination of Islamic and local architectural elements through their detailed frescoes, marble work, and geometric patterns.
Visitors can access the Rang Mahal through designated pathways within the Red Fort complex, which now functions as an archaeological museum displaying Mughal artifacts.
The Nahr-i-Bihisht water channel runs through the center of the marble structure, ending in a basin that previously contained an ivory fountain.
