Cha Cha Town Kokura, Shopping center in Sunatsu, Japan.
Cha Cha Town Kokura is a multi-floor shopping center in the Sunatsu district of Kitakyushu, housing fashion shops, specialty retailers, restaurants, and a cinema. The building stands out along the waterfront and organizes its offer across several levels, each dedicated to different types of shops or services.
The center opened in 2000 as one of the first large retail developments built on the redeveloped waterfront of Kitakyushu. It was part of a broader effort to bring new uses to former industrial land along the shore.
The center is a regular meeting point for families from Kokura and nearby parts of Kitakyushu, not just for shopping but also for eating out and spending time together. On weekends, the corridors fill up with groups of all ages moving between the food floor and the cinema.
The center is within walking distance of JR Kokura Station, which makes it easy to reach by train from elsewhere in Kitakyushu or from Fukuoka. Visiting on a weekday tends to be more comfortable, as weekends and holidays draw larger crowds.
A large red Ferris wheel sits on top of the building and has become one of the most recognizable landmarks along the Kitakyushu waterfront. On clear days, the ride offers a view across the strait that separates Honshu from Kyushu.
