118 Mall, shopping mall in Merdeka 118
118 Mall is a large shopping center in Kuala Lumpur made primarily of glass with a curved roof that allows natural light to flood through. The complex contains over 320 retail spaces, multiple cinema halls, a dining area called Eat Street with outdoor seating, the Malaysian Artisan District for handcrafted goods, and distinctive water features including The Raincloud display and The Dome, which is the largest glass rooftop of its kind in the country.
Construction began in 2014 alongside the new Merdeka 118 tower with 118 floors, from which the mall takes its name. The center was built on land where Merdeka Park once stood, one of Kuala Lumpur's oldest parks.
The mall displays Malaysian culture through water features, sculptures, and decorative elements inspired by local traditions. In the Malaysian Artisan District, visitors can find handcrafted products and local foods that represent the country's artistic heritage.
The center connects to multiple train lines including Merdeka MRT, Plaza Rakyat LRT, and Hang Tuah Monorail, making it easy to reach by public transportation. The area features green spaces and a linear park called Merdeka Boulevard At 118 where visitors can walk and relax while exploring the surroundings.
The Dome is the largest glass rooftop of its kind in Malaysia, creating a bright space from natural light during the day that transforms into a glowing area with screens and plants at night. This distinctive structure creates a space that continually shifts with changing light conditions.
