Princess of Hope, Rock formation in Lasbela District, Pakistan
Princess of Hope is a natural stone pillar in Lasbela District, Pakistan, shaped by wind and water into a figure that resembles a person wearing a crown. The formation rises from the rocky surroundings of Hingol National Park near the Makran Coast, showing the effects of geological processes over long periods of time.
The pillar formed through natural erosion over centuries and received its name from Angelina Jolie during a visit in 2002. The name spread quickly and made the rock a better known point within the national park in Balochistan.
The name came from a visit by Angelina Jolie in 2002, linking the rock to ideas of hope for Pakistan. Today travelers often stop here for photographs along the coastal road, with the pillar standing out against the dry landscape of the national park and daylight shaping its outline.
The rock stands about 190 kilometers from Karachi along the Makran Coastal Highway and is reachable on foot from a parking area. Early morning hours offer cooler temperatures and better light for a visit, as midday heat can be intense in this region.
Not far from this formation stands another natural structure known locally as the Balochistan Sphinx, also shaped by erosion. Both rocks lie close enough together that visitors often see both in one day when driving the coastal stretch through the park.
