Quds Governorate, Administrative district in East Jerusalem, Palestine
The Quds Governorate extends across 344 square kilometers of diverse landscapes between Ramallah and Bethlehem, reaching eastward toward the Dead Sea.
Following the Oslo Accords in 1995, the Palestinian Authority established the Quds Governorate as one of sixteen administrative divisions in the Palestinian territories.
The governorate contains numerous religious sites and historical landmarks that represent centuries of Islamic and Christian presence in the region.
The administrative region divides into two sub-districts: Jerusalem J1 within Israeli municipal control and Jerusalem J2 covering the remaining governorate areas.
The elevation of 683 meters above sea level characterizes this territory, where 482,854 Palestinians resided as of 2022.
