Singapore Cruise Centre, International cruise terminal in HarbourFront, Singapore.
The Singapore Cruise Centre is a port terminal on the HarbourFront waterfront that handles both large cruise ships and regional ferries. It has several berths, passenger check-in halls, immigration counters, and a small selection of shops and food outlets.
The terminal opened in 1991 as Singapore's first purpose-built cruise facility. Its creation came at a time when Southeast Asia was beginning to attract international cruise routes, and it helped the city position itself as a stopping point for ships crossing the region.
Travelers from many countries pass through here as they board or leave ships headed across the region. The ferry connections to nearby Indonesian islands are used mostly by locals heading there for short breaks, giving the terminal a very different feel from a typical cruise port.
The HarbourFront MRT station is a short walk from the terminal and is well signposted from inside the building. Taxis wait just outside the main entrance, which is helpful for anyone arriving with heavy luggage.
The terminal sits right next to VivoCity, one of Singapore's largest shopping malls, connected by a covered walkway. This means passengers waiting to board can spend time browsing a full-size mall, which is unusual for a port setting.
