Allen Crags, Mountain summit in Cumbria, England
Allen Crags is a mountain summit in the Lake District rising to 785 meters (2,575 feet). The eastern side drops steeply while gentler grey rock slabs slope toward Grains Gill.
This peak forms part of the ancient Scafell group in the Lake District and connects to Esk Hause pass. The pass historically served as a vital route linking the valleys.
The peak features among the 214 Wainwright fells, ranked as number 42 in the collection of Lake District mountains documented by Alfred Wainwright.
The main route starts from Seathwaite Farm and follows the Grains Gill path toward Esk Hause. From there you head to the summit, which is marked by three piles of stones.
The summit contains an unusual geological composition of laminated volcaniclastic claystones intersected by andesite and hybridized andesite porphyry.
